Overview and Quality

We offer a wide range of services and classrooms including full day Infant/Toddler (Early Head Start), Preschool/PreK, Head Start, Hope Toledo, and School Age Classrooms.

We believe that each child learns at his/her own pace and our developmentally appropriate curriculum is planned to meet the unique learning style and needs of each child.

We pride ourselves with supporting the family and providing a smooth transition between family life and our childcare center, including excellent communication on a daily basis regarding your child’s experiences while in our center.

Our program is accredited by the prestigious NAEYC organization (National Association for the Education of Young Children). This accreditation is earned by fewer than 8 % of childcare centers nationally. We are also a highly rated, Star 5, Step Up to Quality Center.  This is the highest rating that may be earned through Ohio’s quality rating system!

What does this mean for your family?  These accreditations are an important way we assure you that your child is in a quality, safe, environment.  We follow strict standards of excellence in programming including:

      • Teacher:child ratios much lower than non-accredited programs
      • Qualified and trained teachers
      • Age appropriate curriculum based on best practices and aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards
      • Curriculum and lesson plans aimed at preparing your child for kindergarten and success in school.
      • Child assessments at regular intervals
      • Family support, home visits and conferences via our partnerships with Head Start and Early Head Start
      • Quality equipment and supplies

Teacher / Staff Qualifications

Every teacher has a specific college degree or certificate and credentials depending upon the age group that he or she is working with. Our teachers have a degree in Education, Early Childhood Education or related field, a Child Development Certificate (CDA) or are in a training program. All teachers are required to meet requirements for continuing education and training in child development per NAEYC, Step Up to Quality, Head Start and Early Head Start standards.

Curriculum & Assessments

Teachers follow the Creative Curriculum and provide a balance of activities which are aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards. We use the “Ages and Stages” system of assessments for infant through age 5 years.  These assessments will give you information about how your child is developing compared to a typical child that age. We realize that all children develop and grow at different rates so the individuality of your child is always accounted for. As your child grows, we offer a full range of childcare services beginning with infant care and following your child through toddler years, preschool years and school age years. Each transition is done slowly and with care for your child’s comfort and adjustment to the next classroom. Your input will be included in the transition plan for your child.

Safety

We have safety policies that are strictly enforced. You will authorize in writing who is permitted to pick up your child and we will never release your child to anyone that you have not authorized in writing. Upon enrollment, you will receive a security code to sign your child in and out of the program. Your child’s teachers are trained in CPR and First Aid in addition to a wide variety of child development training.

As your child grows… We offer a full range of childcare services beginning with infant care and following your child through toddler years, preschool years and school age years. Each transition is done slowly and with care for your child’s comfort and adjustment to the next classroom. Your input will be included in the transition plan for your child.

Head Start

Full day program!

Teachers follow the Creative Curriculum and provide a balance of activities that includes literacy, mathematics science, and social studies, the arts (music, creative art, and dramatic play).

Our activities and lesson plans address the content areas identified in Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards which help prepare your child for kindergarten.  Home visits and family supports!

Swim lessons are included weekly during the school year, at no extra charge. We feel that it is very important for children to learn this skill, which lasts a lifetime, and we are fortunate to have a heated, indoor pool on site.

Field trips are included for children age 4 and older. A permission form will be necessary prior to your child participating in special activities.

Home Visits and Conferences

Your family will receive a home visit twice each year and conferences twice each year (at the Catholic Club).  The purpose of the home visit is for the teacher to meet with you and your child in the comfort of your home and bridge the gap from school to home. You will be given information at your child’s conferences regarding your child’s progress in all areas. Conferences take place a minimum of twice each year. You may request a conference at any time to discuss your child. This helps your child see us as an extension of your home .

Preschool/PreK

Teachers follow Creative Curriculum and provide a balance of activities that includes literacy (increased vocabulary, phonological awareness, knowledge of print, letters and words and comprehension; mathematics (number concepts, patterns, measurement); science (earth and environment; social studies (people and how they live) the arts (music, theater, dramatic play); and technology (awareness of basic operations and concepts). Our activities address the content areas identified in the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards. We learn through play. Some examples: letter puzzles, letter match games, rhyming books, exploring the weather, mixing colors, dancing with ribbons and streamers, using musical instruments, puppet play, use of walkie talkies and computer time.

We use the “Ages and Stages”, and  Teaching Strategies Gold assessments for the preschool age group. These assessments will give you information about how your child is developing compared to a typical child that age. We realize that all children develop and grow at different rates so the individuality of your child is always accounted for. In addition to these assessments, preschoolers are required to undergo several assessments including hearing, vision, height, weight and lead

Your child’s teachers will be working on the skills needed for a successful transition to our Pre-K program which is our feeder program for kindergarten. You will be given information at your child’s conferences regarding your child’s progress in all areas. You may request a conference at any time to discuss your child.

" My children have grown in so many ways since they have attended the Catholic Club. My son's speech and manners have sprouted and the children are learning to socialize with other children.  With them attending this program my work schedule has become a breeze and my children love the staff. They talk about them even at home.  We love the Catholic Club and the staff".
